Price adjustments 2022

We try to give you the greatest possible transparency in all relevant areas. We believe that awareness of more environmentally conscious consumption can only be promoted if processes, supply chains and the origin of the products are traceable.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the restrictions on delivery traffic, raw material and energy prices have risen significantly. As a result, some of our partners have increased their prices by up to 40%. We try to keep the increase in sales prices as low as possible, but unfortunately, due to the circumstances, we also had to raise the prices for individual product groups.

We would therefore like to inform you about the background to our price adjustments in 2022.

commodity prices

Many raw materials such as wood, organic cotton or linen have recently become significantly more expensive . This is due to a sharp increase in market demand as well as increased import duty and transport costs. The purchase price for wood alone increased by almost 80% between October 2020 and October 2021.

Due to the extreme drought and the resulting poor flax harvest in 2020, the prices for flax fibers have risen by 45% , which is reflected in higher prices for linen fabrics. Furthermore, energy resources in Lithuania have increased by 30%, which affects weaving, dyeing, softening and sewing of fabrics.

paper and packaging material

Due to the lack of waste paper , the prices for paper and cardboard rose significantly in 2021. The result is price increases of more than 200% for mixed waste paper, so that shipping materials are now more than twice as expensive as in the previous year. We are therefore increasingly focusing on the reuse of shipping boxes or filling material that have already been used.

shipping fees

All shipping service providers usually increase their prices at the beginning of the year. In general, the cost calculation of the shipping service provider is based on the weight and volume of the package and the destination country.

We cover the shipping costs with a flat rate, so you pay a calculable fee. And shipping is still free for you from an order value of more than 50 euros within Germany or from 150 euros within the EU and Switzerland.

For us as a small company, shipping fees are a high cost factor. Nevertheless, we would like to enable free shipping regardless of the shipping quantity or weight.

import fees

We obtain our goods from different suppliers in different countries. Some of our partners have their goods produced overseas, since the necessary raw materials such as seaweed or water hyacinth grow there and the traditional craftsmanship of the producers can be guaranteed.

The costs in sea freight have increased by up to 600% compared to the period before Corona ! The main causes are a large shortage of ships and empty containers, the blockade in the Suez Canal and the effects that are still being felt, as well as major problems with bottlenecks due to significantly increased activity in individual ports.

Two years ago, a container still cost an average of 1,500 US dollars, by the end of 2021 it was already 10,000 US dollars.

For small companies that have to operate profitably, price increases of this magnitude cannot be borne and therefore have to be passed on in some cases. We therefore ask for your understanding if some items have increased in price.
